What's In Season

WHAT'S IN SEASON

It's a great time of year for fresh produce - warm for growth but not too hot, meaning that great value veg and the first of the summer fruit have appeared! Mangoes are good value, plus stonefruit has started while our beloved citrus (navels and mandarins) are still in good form and available.

FRUIT

TROPICAL: Pines and melons are eating well but are somewhat scarce, hence the prices. Passionfruit is scarce. Cooking mangoes are available.

CITRUS: Lemons and limes are plentiful, with mandarins eating surprisingly well for this late in the season. Blood oranges are very cheap but ending soon, as are Aussie navel oranges.

MANGO: The first of the really good value mangoes are available this week with KP (our pick) and R2E2's available.

EXOTIC: Tamarillos, guavas, and cooking mangoes available

BERRIES: Strawberries, blueberries and blackberries are good value.

STONEFRUIT: The first of the Aussie stonefruit has appeared with yellow nectarines and yellow peaches.

VEGETABLES

AVOCADOES: Hass are very good value.

ASPARAGUS: Aussie asparagus in full flush.

GOOD VALUE: Cauliflower, broccoli, zucchini, kale, sweet potato, red capsicum.

BEANS & PEAS: Local direct from the grower sugar snaps and snow peas. Butter beans and borlotti beans are available.

TOMATOES: Cherry tomato varieties are all good value.

POTATOES & PUMPKIN: Good potatoes are available with good value. Desiree potatoes, new season cocktails, and Atherton brushed potatoes are in season (great growing region). We're loving bags of washed kifler for convenience and price.

CUCUMBERS: Easing somewhat, apple cucumbers are available - enjoy them during their short, snappy season.

FLOWERS: Waratahs, delphiniums, and pinwheels are all in season with lots of beautiful spring flowers! Tulips and daffodils are in season, plus proteas and waxflower. Ranunculus have just started.
